Acceptable Use & Academic Integrity Policy
Last updated: August 2026
Tesify exists to strengthen your writing and your learning, never to replace them. This policy explains what the tool does, what it does not do, and how we expect you to use it so that your work remains genuinely your own.
The core principle: authorship is yours
The ideas, arguments and conclusions in your research report, dissertation or thesis must be your own. Tesify structures your chapters, suggests improvements to what you have already written, builds your references and lets you check your own originality — but it does not write your work for you, and it does not remove your responsibility to understand and stand behind everything you submit.
What Tesify does
- Structure: organises your document into coherent chapters and sections.
- Drafting support: suggests clearer phrasing and academic tone for paragraphs you have already written.
- Citations and references: formats them in Harvard style (or another style where your faculty requires it).
- Originality check: flags passages that may need better paraphrasing or a citation.
- Formatting and export: prepares the document in Word, PDF or LaTeX, ready to submit.
What Tesify does not do
- It does not write your dissertation from scratch for you to submit as your own unassisted work.
- It does not guarantee that your submission will pass any particular similarity-detection system: the originality check is a self-review aid, not a way around institutional checks.
- It does not fabricate data, sources or citations. Every source you use must be real, verifiable and reviewed by you.
- It does not replace your university’s rules, your supervisor’s guidance, or your duty to declare the tools you used where that is required.
Uses we do not accept
Using Tesify to produce a dissertation you did not meaningfully write, to fabricate sources or data, to circumvent your institution’s academic integrity rules, or to present AI-assisted work as entirely your own where declaration is required, breaches these terms. We reserve the right to suspend accounts used in ways inconsistent with the purpose of the tool.
Follow your university’s rules
Academic integrity rules differ between universities, faculties and programmes, and sometimes between supervisors. Some institutions require you to declare any AI assistance; others restrict it more narrowly. It is your responsibility to know and follow the rules that apply to your programme, and to ask your supervisor or research office if you are unsure.
